Christmas 2022

When the angels visited the shepherds outside Bethlehem, they announced the birth of Jesus the Messiah as "good news that will bring great joy for all the people" (Luke 2v10). As such, we'd love you to join with us this year as we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus! Whether you're a Christian or not, a regular member of the church family or have never stepped into the building before - come along and discover this good news for yourself!

Family Nativity Service - 11th Dec, 11-11:50am

On the 11th, some of the children within the church family will be telling us a familiar story of good news at a dark time. And if you want, join in! There will be parts to play and costumes to wear, without any rehearsal necessary! So come and join the fun for all the family.

This will be followed by a short, Christmassy talk and a Christmas lunch. Come along, and bring your laughing hats!

Carols by Candlelight- 18th Dec, 7-8pm

The 18th will be our (Wood Green)-famous Carols by Candlelight service from 7pm (after the World Cup final…). There'll be a mix of contemporary and traditional Christmas pieces performed by the church Christmas choir, surrounded by candles to complete the atmosphere.

Worried you won't get the chance to sing? Never fear! There'll be opportunities to join in with some of the more well-known carols throughout the service. There'll also be a short, encouraging thought from Mark, the vicar, before the evening wraps up with mince pies and mulled wine.

What better way to get into the holiday mood?

Toddler Carols - 20th Dec, 11-11:40am

On the 20th, join us for a short morning of toddler carols; full of silliness, songs, snacks and stories. And much more!

We’ll have some Christmassy games, sing some Christmassy songs and hear the amazing Christmas story. The whole family is welcome and everyone will have lots of fun.

Blue Christmas - 20th Dec, 6-7pm

Christmas is a time of celebration, but it can also be really hard for lots of people. Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas is a reality for many of us. If that’s you this Christmas time, why not come to our ‘Blue’ Christmas service, here at St Cuthberts church on 20th December, from 6pm?

We’ll have a short, more reflective advent service for those who, for whatever reason, find this season difficult. We would love to have you join us as we reflect together on the hope that the Christmas story holds out in a dark world.

Or if it feels like too much to come to something like this, please do get in touch with us and let us know how we as a church family can support you in this season.

Outdoor Family Carols - 21st Dec, 4-5pm

Join us for our Wood Green famous outdoor carol service on 21st! This event is quickly becoming a mainstay on Wood Green’s festive calendar, so be sure to come along! It’s a great way for everyone – young and old – to get into the Christmas spirit.

With a traditional brass band to accompany us, we'll be singing some Christmas carols together, lit by fairy lights.  We hope that they, along with the short Christmas talk, will warm your hearts despite the cold. If not, the mince pies, hot chocolates and mulled wine afterwards surely will!

Christmas Eve - 24th Dec, 11-11:45pm

We'll have a short service on Christmas eve evening, looking ahead to Christmas and thinking about it's meaning in today's ever-changing, ever-uncertain world.

Christmas Day Celebration - 25th Dec, 11-11:30am

And, of course, we'll be around on Christmas morning and welcome anyone to come and join us (with or without their newly-opened presents) for a short, all-age service celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus - "good news for all the people" (Luke 2v10)!

Whether you can make all of our events or none, we wish you and your family a very happy Christmas. Our prayer is that you will be able to enjoy the good news that Christmas is, and find hope in it. A true, lasting hope that shines brightly in a dark world.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! â€‹
