Opportunities to serve and be served...

We want to do our best to organise church family life so that every disciple in the church family can say:

“I am being helped to know Jesus better,  and I am being supported to help others to know Jesus better too”.

What will help us all to be able to say that?
Across the church family, every Christian has God-given gifts, and God-given parts to play to honour Jesus.  We want to help each other
to keep discovering, developing and using our gifts so that together we honour Jesus.  Across church family life, there are lots of different ways to use our gifts.

In the questionnaire, there are lots of different ways you could put your gifts to work.
(If there are others ways you would like to serve or use your gifts, please talk to us).

  • By ticking a box on any of these pages, you aren’t committing to serve.  You are inviting a conversation  about serving.

  • We encourage you to tick lots of things! Don’t worry, you won’t be asked to do everything you tick.  (It’s easier to help everyone play a part in serving if each person suggests more than one way they’d be willing to serve).

  • This is about making it easier for people to give things a go. If – after a conversation – you agree to give something a try, we will support you to try it out to see whether it’s right for you.  If it isn’t, that’s fine!

(These lists don’t include lots of ‘ordinary’ ways of serving that every Christian can share– like praying for people and for ministries, speaking the truth about Jesus in Jesus-like ways to others, giving financially to support church life, offering hospitality to others.  Those don’t rely on particular gifts, they are just part of being a disciple of Jesus.  If there are ways we can support you in any of those, please do ask!).

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms... with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 4v10-11a)
